A perfectionist by nature, Christie is detail oriented, yet her art is loose and energetic. She is driven by balancing the softness and stillness of a floral or abstract background with the energy and flow of her brush strokes and varying applications of paint in the foreground. Christie purposefully encourages herself to take risks with her methodology of painting and strives for imperfection despite her natural tendency for perfection.
The employment of unnatural colors, loose brush strokes, fluidity, splatter, drops and drips, and expressive marks are prominent in her works. Her intentions while painting is to make a conscious effort to let go, be light-hearted, and couple this with attention to the smallest details. Thus her paintings have evolved from stiff and motionless to playful and energetic...also having the same effect on her personality.
