Indian Tree Platter ^Sale

Our Indian Tree Platter is a lovely example of the Indian Tree china pattern popular during the last half of the nineteenth century. Copied from earlier Indian textile patterns that were very similar, the pattern includes the crooked branch of a tree and a partial landscape with exotic flowers and leaves. First produced in 1802 by the Coalport Company in the Staffordshire District of England, the pattern became very popular and other china companies started producing it as well. The colorful design was created by first drawing a black outline of the tree and flowers. Then, the apprentice china painters at the factories would hand paint the colors over the shape, creating vibrant results. Green, blue, pink, and orange were the favored colors used in the design.
