Emily Ufer
Inspired by the landscapes of Texas and the South, Emily Ufer creates colorful paintings that capture the light, texture, and color of the places she loves dearly. She includes birds in many of her paintings, as she loves the grace and freedom they symbolize. Emily’s style is very loose and gestural; she loves to use complex color schemes and textured materials, such as handmade paper or raw canvas, to add depth to her paintings. Painting is where Emily feels happiest and most herself.
Art and aesthetics have been Emily’s passions from a young age. It started as a child, stacking copy paper to create books of houses designed room by room. This raw passion led her to receive a BA in Studio Art and Art education from Texas State University. After graduation, she taught visual art at a fine arts middle school for eight years. During her time teaching, she began creating art again as a way to find herself. This evolved into a full-fledged passion, and she has been painting and refining her style ever since. Emily lives in Houston, Texas, with her husband.
